Why The Challenge?
The USO of North Carolina strengthens America’s military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, throughout their service to the nation. Founded in 1941, the USO of NC is a nonprofit, charitable organization, relying on the generosity of North Carolinians to support its programs and services.
The USO of NC serves the fourth largest military population in the U.S., providing more than 600,000 points of service annually, helping our service members and their families through education, wellness, transition assistance and resiliency programs across the state.
The USO of NC Sandhills Area operates three centers locally: the main center in Fort Bragg’s Soldier Support Center and a satellite center in the Warrior Transition Battalion barracks, and a travel center at the Fayetteville Regional Airport. The Sandhills Area operations welcomed more than 135,000 service members and families this past year.
Thousands more were served through homecomings, deployments, and critical programs for service members, spouses and their children. Through your participation in the Fayetteville Challenge you are supporting our mission of 77 years of continuous service to our men and women in uniform and the country they serve selflessly each day.
